I’ve always hated networking events. I love meeting people, but I actually want to meet them. Ya get me?
Some networking events, and especially “speed networking” things, leave me feeling icky. I’m more interested in who they are and what matters to them than how they can help me.
Maybe you’ve accepted a flood of connection requests or met someone at an event who seemed interested. Then you realized they weren’t curious about you at all. They were curious about what you might bring to them.
There’s nothing wrong with looking for opportunity; I get it. It’s just not what floats my boat. You? Still, building relationships requires, ummm…relationships.
Call me crazy, but I just wrote a little over in my newsletter that might resonate with your experience too. Read it over here.
