A mindful approach to self-care for the caregiver
Mindful self awareness allows us to care for ourselves and others with compassion, kindness and generosity. Self-care doesn't mean ignoring everyone else, but when we are exhausted and stretched to the limit we can make mistakes that have serious repercussions for ourselves and others. Through understanding ourselves we can come from a place that is grounded and calm, even in the midst of a storm.
The science behind our reactions to life
One of the great revelations to me in my studies was that we all have times when our brain takes over and does things we wouldn't normally say or do. Understanding the neuroscience behind triggering our fight, flight, or freeze mode (an Amygdala hijack) and what to do about it really changed my life. I found ways to self regulate better, became less reactive and more responsive to the various crises we experience in our lives. I want to share that with the world!
Mindful Social Media? An Oxymoron?
Social media is everywhere isn’t it? Sports on TV, ads on the bus, the train and on billboards you see ads shouting out “follow us on…”. We are inundated with social media noise, so how we market our business to be heard above the din? We don’t. Instead we get focused and talk to individual people. Person to person. The way we really like to communicate. See, social media is social, first and foremost. Taking a mindful approach to where, how and why we are communicating on social can help us be more effective and both our customers and our team will be happier for it.
