Will you watch the #NFL live stream on Twitter?
As you may know by now, Twitter signed a deal with the big 4 sports leagues this year to live-stream games and content from the MLB, NHL, NBA and the NFL leagues. We got a preview of how this might work with the live stream of Wimbledon in July, an event Twitter says was an “incomplete test”.
The next test? The NFL will live stream the game between the New York Jets at Buffalo Bills on Sept 15, 2016, the first of a total of 10 Thursday night games. Here’s the lineup courtesy of CNET. All games kick off at 8:25 PM Eastern Time.
- Sept. 15: New York Jets at Buffalo Bills
- Sept. 22: Houston Texans at New England Patriots
- Oct. 6: Arizona Cardinals at San Francisco 49ers
- Oct. 13: Denver Broncos at San Diego Chargers
- Oct. 20: Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers
- Nov. 17: New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers
- Dec. 1: Dallas Cowboys at Minnesota Vikings
- Dec. 8: Oakland Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs
- Dec. 15: Los Angeles Rams at Seattle Seahawks
- Dec. 22: New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles
“Twitter is where live events unfold and is the right partner for the NFL as we take the latest step in serving fans around the world live NFL football”, said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. “There is a massive amount of NFL-related conversation happening on Twitter during our games and tapping into that audience, in addition to our viewers on broadcast and cable, will ensure Thursday Night Football is seen on an unprecedented number of platforms this season. This agreement also provides additional reach for those brands advertising with our broadcast partners.”
“This is about transforming the fan experience with football. People watch NFL games with Twitter today,” said Jack Dorsey, Twitter CEO. “Now they’ll be able to watch right on Twitter Thursday nights.”
How do I watch the NFL live stream on Twitter?
Nobody seems to know exactly where the games will be live streamed. Looking at what they did with Wimbledon, they created a dedicated LIVE page and Wimbledon announced the live link on their official Twitter stream. So my best guess is to watch the NFL official Twitter account for a link and go from there. If I find it before you do, I’ll be sure to update this post with the link!
NFL Team emojis?
Before you tweet that next game, check out the emojis for each of the teams in the NFL and share them in your tweets! Just use the NFL designated hashtags in your tweet and the emoji will automagically appear.
